“Garden” – Playing the hole

Long hitters can get this one very close – in summer just aim at the 10th tee and let the slope run you all the way home! For the rest of us, the slicker the fairway, the higher up the hill you need to start the ball, and it will still finish in the left-hand semi. The one place not to be off the tee is stuck on the steep bank on the left.

The view from the 18th is very different, as the Rhododendrons block out the direct route, and the hole plays as a dog-leg around the hill. You can hold a wedge on the green if the ground is soft, but if it gets hard and running, a careful pitch down the bank is the only way.
